The decision of locating the capital city at a central place around Vijayawada was arrived at keeping in view the importance of aligning governance, economic development, culture and arts for the betterment of Telugu people and meeting their aspirations. It is a reflection of people’s sentiments, and coincides with the views expressed in the representations made to Sivaramakrishnan Committee.

It is to be noted that nearly 50 per cent of the representations received by the Committee favoured Vijayawada-Guntur region as the best location for the capital area.
